Employment

CRWI Diotima recognizes that women’s’ financial independence has a major importance for their social emancipation. Their access to employment as well as their equal integration to the job market, constitute fundamental axes of our intervention. Besides, women have to deal with various obstacles in work environment: difficulties of advancement in higher ranks (vertical segregation/glass ceiling), gender-based division of labor (horizontal segregation) into “male” and “female” occupation, where the first are accompanied with status and high salaries, while the latter are accompanied with low salaries and precariousness, income gap, violation of work rights (domestic sector/care), difficulty of combining work and family duties, high rates of unemployment, low/unequal access to job training and employment opportunities, a higher risk of social exclusion and poverty (especially for groups of women, like single mothers, long-term unemployed and migrant/refugees), difficulties of (re)integration to the job market (especially for the GBV survivors), obstacles in accessing research programs and funds, digital gap etc.

CRWI Diotima intervenes systematically on the basis of establishing gender equality on employment and the job market:

  • It monitors the data concerning the place of women in the job market, it publishes researches and develops tools, methods and techniques, it proposes political measures
  • It implements supporting consults for both unemployed and employed women, both native and migrant women, in order to inform themselves on the job market conditions, as well as to develop their skills, aiming to ensure their equal social and financial integration
