The present, “A Handbook on Empowering Refugee Survivors and/or Individuals at high risk of GBV to reclaim their stories”, is a result of the project “Assisting Professionals to Support and Empower Refugee Women and Men”, that was funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Athens, and was implemented between April and December 2019.
The Handbook has been enriched from the input of the refugee women and men themselves, who were participating at the activities run by DIOTIMA within the context of the project, “SGBV Prevention, Response and Legal Aid to refugees in Athens, and Thessaloniki Urban Areas, as well as Moria on Lesvos”, funded by UNHCR.
The main goal of the Handbook is to become a Guidebook for those field practitioners and professionals who would like to integrate a more gender and culturally sensitized approach into their activities, in order to best serve refugee and migrant Gender-Based Violence survivors and/or individuals at high risk of GBV.
This Handbook is dedicated to these refugee women and men that allowed us to get a glimpse of their struggles, their dreams, their hopes and fears, and enabled us to enrich our background of observation.
