For a school that fits all children
The Diotima Centre supports the Pro-Horao (Move-Forward) campaign, which aims to establish Inclusive Holistic Sex Education.

With 26 other civil society organisations, we support the Pro-Horao campaign. For an inclusive school for all children (only in Greek) with the aim of making Inclusive Holistic Sex Education a compulsory subject at all grades.

The issues of Sexual and Reproductive Health, gender stereotypes, gender-based violence and sexual abuse concern all of us, because they decisively affect physical and mental health, limit people’s possibilities, freedom, dreams and affect their relationships.

It’s all of our responsibility to demand that the necessary measures be taken to ensure the equal and universal enjoyment of human rights.

In this context, we support the action of the Colourful School, which, with the support of the Council of Europe, coordinate a campaign taking into account the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and UNESCO, with main goals:

  • the establishment of Inclusive Holistic Sex Education as a compulsory subject at all grades,
  • the formulation of a specialised curriculum per class,
  • the education and training of teachers of all disciplines and levels,
  • the reformulation and completion of the curriculum,
  • the issue of a guide for teachers,
  • the issue of a specialised circular by the Ministry of Education on issues relating to the management of everyday issues of sexual orientation, identity, gender expression and gender characteristics, as well as gender stereotypes and sexism, which arise in school life; and
  • the institutionalisation of constant communication with Parent-Teacher Associations for information, awareness-raising and training on issues related to the Inclusive Holistic Sex Education.

Students are the core of schools and therefore their needs should always be prioritised.
