Centre Diotima and the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network (TENet-Gr) invite you to CAREFULL, a Forum Theatre performance, on 17–18 January at 8:00 p.m., at Theatre 104 (41 Evmolpidon Street).
Does Care Have a Gender?
Zoe and Dora, two millennial sisters, grow up side by side. From childhood to adulthood, they are constantly confronted with the same invisible, unpaid labour: women silently shoulder the burden of household chores, raising children, and caring for the sick and the elderly. They are the ones who pay the price of care through their own exhaustion.
In Greece, particularly amid the economic crisis, the pandemic, and ongoing uncertainty, the pressure to be a “good mother, daughter, and wife” has reached breaking point. The protagonists learn the hard way that “there is no right choice.” Within marriage, they sacrifice their personal growth and self-fulfilment; outside the traditional family structure, they face oppressive stereotypes and a hostile environment in which they are made to feel guilty for their choices and desires.
Could this story have been written differently?
hrough the language of participatory theatre, the audience is invited to intervene, propose alternatives, step into the characters’ roles, and take action. What would a society look like if care were no longer considered women’s duty? How would our lives change if care became a collective responsibility?
Who is it for?
The performance is aimed at adults and adolescents, creating an open and inclusive space for dialogue.
