Empowering survivors of gender-based violence in Central Macedonia
The aim of the project is to empower survivors and mothers in Central Macedonia.

The project aims to empower women in the region of Central Macedonia. It is implemented by Diotima Centre with the support of the Sani/Ikos Hotel Group, for the period March-December 2026.

Objective

The project focuses on women who are experiencing or have experienced any form of gender-based violence and have limited financial and/or social resources (such as low income, precarious working conditions, unemployment, single-parent families, etc.). Through their participation in empowerment groups, with the constant support of specialized counselors, women have the opportunity to recognize their experiences and develop their personal power.

The aim of the project is to support them in exiting abusive relationships and threatening situations, regaining their autonomy, and envisioning the next steps in their lives.

Activities

Empowerment groups

Through meetings and activities that utilize a range of creative methods, participants process their experiences, recognize their strength, and re-imagine their self-image, while challenging gender stereotypes. Through this process, they are empowered and prepared to reclaim different aspects of their lives, while at the same time creating informal networks of mutual support.

The project will also include thematic groups aimed at women and femininities who are experiencing motherhood or pregnancy.

Target groups

Women living in Central Macedonia

  • Greek and immigrant women who have experienced and/or are experiencing any form of gender-based violence and have limited financial and/or social resources

  • Women and individuals experiencing motherhood or pregnancy
