As part of the effort to strengthen the protection of vulnerable groups of the refugee population living in open accommodation facilities in Greece, and in particular individuals (men, boys, women and girls) who have suffered or are at risk of gender-based violence, CRWI Diotima implements a UNHCR funded Project providing integrated support services, including prevention, GBV case management and legal aid in Attica, Thessaloniki, Lesvos and Samos.
Main responsibilities:
- The GBV community liaison officer will arrange and provide information sessions on GBV on a weekly basis with groups of asylum-seekers and refugees (including male population), using the relevant material produced by Diotima.
- The GBV community liaison officer will organize groups of asylum-seekers and refugees (including male population) and will meet on a weekly basis with them and discuss issues of GBV, power dynamics and gender stereotypes, with the aim to build their capacity on prevention and on providing peer-to-peer support, using the relevant material produced by Diotima.
- The GBV community liaison officer will be in close cooperation and will mediate with different committees and community focal points. In particular, she/he will systematically participate in relevant meetings facilitating information awareness among both about GBV and the related services provided in Lesvos.
- Cooperation with the community representatives in order to facilitate information and awareness on issues related to gender-based violence.
- Close collaboration with the Community Engagement Coordinator in Athens.
- Close collaboration with the Community Engagement Officer in Lesvos.
- Provision of interpretation services in the framework of community-based activities implemented in Lesvos.
- Undertake any administrative work needed.
Necessary qualifications:
- Very good knowledge of the Greek language (oral – written).
- Excellent knowledge of the English language.
- Excellent knowledge of Farsi or France.
- Knowledge of Arabic/Somali/Sorani/Kurmanji is an asset.
- Basic computer and internet skills.
- Previous work experience with organizations or NGOs providing support to people who have survived GBV will be taken into account.
- Previous experience in participating or working with refugee communities will be taken into account.
