#PAINted campaign | Gender-based violence has many shades
On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25/11), the Diotima Center presents the #PAINted campaign.

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25/11), the women’s organization Diotima Center and Makeup & Digital Artist, Eleana Dimopoulou, join forces in the #PAINted campaign.

The #PAINted campaign makes use of color to “talk” about all forms of gender-based violence: verbal, physical, psychological/emotional, financial, and sexual. Forms that often leave no visible marks, yet cause multiple traumas to the people who have experienced them or are experiencing them, either in the private or public space (partner/marital and domestic violence, rape, sexual harassment, trafficking, stalking, etc.).

By painting pain and trauma, we give visibility to an “invisible phenomenon”, which often escapes statistics, while it is often masked by convenient myths and social tolerance, so that it goes unreported.

Through the campaign we aim to: inform the public so that they learn to recognize all forms of gender-based violence; to raise awareness in society for the formation of a collective culture of zero tolerance towards gender-based violence and sexism, but also to strengthen a collective mentality of support for survivors of gender violence. After all, for a timely and effective response to gender-based violence, the contribution of all of us is necessary.

***If you experience gender-based violence or know of an incident, call the SOS Line 15900 to receive the necessary information.
