Participation at the EIGE conference
The Diotima Center participated in the "Power up" conference organized by the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE).

In November 2019, the Diotima Center represented by Dimitra Antonopoulou, Gender Violence Incident Management Supervisor, participated in the conference entitled “Power up for more Gender Equality & Gender Mainstreaming” organized by the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), under the auspices of the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The conference took place at the Europa Building in Brussels on 19/11/2019, with the participation of representatives from the European Commission, the European Parliament, civil society, social partners, and academia.

The findings of a new EIGE research on gender mainstreaming in European policies over the past decade were presented.

Ways to implement the EU’s legal and political commitments on gender equality and the possibility of securing a renewed commitment for 2020 were discussed, in view of the assumption of duties by the new European Parliament and the finalization of the seven-year EU budget.

The thematic agenda of the conference included 3 sessions:

  • The future of gender equality: goals and challenges for gender mainstreaming
  • Gender mainstreaming in all policy areas: how can gender equality be effectively integrated into the EU’s post-2020 strategy?
  • What is the impact of changing budgets and structures on gender equality?
